The air was getting colder, the leaves were turning, and I hated it. Hated it. Signaling fall, the end of summer, the end of the season. With this depressing thought in my head, I made sure to make the most of these last few days with my bike, before it was loaded up and put away in Webster for its winter slumber. The off season would be a time for detailing and upgrading, but I’ll get into that more as I begin to spend time working on the bike.
One of the things I most looked forward to in bringing my bike to school was exploring all the country and back roads around here. Plus, with the on and off road capabilities of the machine, I also wanted to try out some of the vineyard trails I see off the road sometimes (after some experience with these, I have decided to stay away from them until I get some more dirt-capable tires. The current sportbike meats don’t help out much in grass and dirt.) I decided one fall day to jump on, kick ‘er over and cruise. I like Route 60 a lot because it lets me wind out the motor, and really hear it. The high speeds put a lot of load on the motor and tires, letting them warm up from their idle periods when I’m forced to be sitting in a classroom daydreaming about riding. I like to ride a nice curvy route along Cassadaga Lake; there’s great scenery and even better curves.

It was a beautiful fall ride, with great views of all the leaves turning, and the lake looked a lil chilly though, so done with my other hobby for the season, jetskiing.

I think thats it for this entry… it is just making me sad. It was a great last ride, a great way to end the season. I even passed a friend who also goes to Fredonia who has a bike, and he pulled over to the side to let me by. As I passed him on the inside I counter steered a lil more to leeaaannn my bike way over and cranked around the turn, across the bridge wide open throttle, hearing my exhaust note echo against the cement sides of the overpass, and across the cold lake. He was out for a nice cruise, but I had different intentions in mind for my ride. I made sure to bring my front wheel up as i pulled away from the stop sign, hoping my friend saw it. I wanted him to know that even though my bike looks a lil funny, it is the most fun a person can have on two wheels. (except for the times I deem it acceptable to just have one on the ground.)
I do not ride dirt bikes anymore but I used to when i was younger and it is lots of fun. I have grown up riding snowmobiles and four wheelers my entire life. Also, I have a crotch rocket now that I love to ride. It is sort of a beginner bike. It is a 600 Suzuki Katana. Even though they say it is a beginner bike, she still moves real well. Ive got it up to 110 easily. Do you hit jumps with your bike and actually get some air?
The only time I’ve been on a dirtbike was when someone else was driving, but I’ve always secretly wanted to give it a try of my own. Your passion for the sport is inspiring and makes me want to go out and steal my brother’s. However, I definitely don’t have the money to get into something like that right now. Any ideas on how to find good deals? Did you buy yours new or used?
Yea its a dirtbike, so it still does all the fun stuff dirtbikes can do. Not much traction on anything but pavement though. What year is your Katana? take a close look at my wheels and see if you recognize them. 99 katana wheels machined down to fit my bike. Cush drive welded up and everything.
forums always have the best deals haha and information about how to buy one. I bought it used from a guy I met on a forum actually. Way cool guy, I even still talk to him about it. It was his baby, so he misses it sometimes.
This sounds like SO much fun! I have never been on a dirt bike, but had 3 wheelers growing up. We don’t have them anymore so I now make my best friend’s brother take me on his motorcycle. I thought I remembered you once mentioning in class that you have your own business selling bike parts. Is this true or did i misunderstand you?
every time i get off my bike i take off my helmet and have to quickly wipe this big doofy smile off my face before anyone sees. its so much fun. Nah I don’t have a business selling parts, but I use forums to sell used bike and jetski parts I don’t need anymore. Easy way to find people to buy your old parts.
